LUGGAGE Lady

Contemplations about Life, Love, & the Pursuit of Meaningful Existence…

Life is a Painting…Enjoy the Brushstrokes

Hello, Flyboy

Please Welcome Luggage Lady’s First-ever Guest Blogger:  Airline captain, home remodeler, chef, adventure planner, & co-seeker of meaningful existence — my husband.

🌻🌻🌻

Why do we walk life’s slippery steps?

We will surely skid into the abyss

Life continues its incessant attempt at overwhelming us

Unfriendliness

Hopelessness

Sorrow

24-hour news

Day in, day out repetitiveness

Surely we must concede

Cower

Surrender

***

A bright spot in your day

A friendly gesture

A wife’s smile

A purr or lick from your family pet

A fantastic sunrise

Sunset

Your favorite song on the radio

A heartfelt laugh

A please

A thank you

Sincerity

Lifelong friends

A family that has your back

A joke you’ve heard a hundred times and still enjoy

A hero’s story

A good book

A day at the movies

Love

When you look at a painting

Do you study the miniscule imperfections

Or just relish the artist’s expression?

As with art, so is life

There are many more positives in this world than negatives

The question is this:

Which would you rather focus on?

Life is a Painting…Enjoy the Brushstrokes

  1. Oh.My.Goodnesssssss!!!! What a tear-flooding, throat-lumping MAGICAL surprise! I was just ho-humming along, somewhat lethargically checking my Reader and did a double take–could it be Luggage Lady is back?! Yahoo! And back with an inspiring and resounding flourish of eloquence and sensitivity with your talented guest blogger–a “keeper” to be sure :). I choose “relishing the artist’s expression!” Thank you from my pounding and humbled heart, Shauna, for these lovely, radiant gifts–your presence, the beautiful post, the dedication, the POSSIBILITY that you may continue to grace us with your shining soul via your blog, and your generous dedication. The omnipresent grey outside has been trumped by the shining light of you two, lovely flying and writing sorceress and sorcerer. LOVE LOVE LOVE

    • “The omnipresent grey outside has been trumped by the shining light of you…”

Precisely what YOU do for me — always! Your graceful, spunky optimism buoys me to heights even the airplane can’t climb. Not enough ways out there to adequately express my gratitude, my dancing balladist. 💃 May we savor every delightful brushstroke of this painting called life, knowing that a serendipitous connection is one of those rare gifts colorizing our world in glorious ways… ♥♥♥♥

  2. Wonderful! Great way to start the day.

  3. I love this!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

And cute couple you two are!

  4. Awww, thanks Maryanne! Sending huge hugs to you and your adorable husband. Happy Summer!! 🙂

  5. my favorite painting professor would have us study the master’s, and with his index finger that always had oil paint beneath his fingernail, would point at a particular painting excitedly and say,

‘every single brushstroke has a meaning, every one is intentional’

    *smiles*

  6. Ohhh, I love your intriguing perspective…And those whose intentions are chosen thoughtfully — sprinkled with wild abandon at times, perhaps — leave behind a portrait of a rich, exhilarating life? What fun to ponder. Thanks for the vivid visual — and the smiles!!

  13. Dear LL and Guest Blogger, Just came back to revisit this radiant and wise piece, and I am so happy I did.

What a terrific question you pose: Do we focus on the “miniscule imperfections”of great works of art or, wisely and gracefully, “relish the artist’s expression?” And a “heck, yeah” to your list of the daily and priceless gifts life has to offer. Thank you once again for the inspiration of this post, and the honor of your dedication. Wishing you both a soaring, love-filled new year…every year. Love, C
